Minnesota Duo Named MCLA All-Americans



MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—Senior attackman Eric Fong and sophomore face-off specialist Niklas Damberg earned All-American honors this week. This is the second consecutive year that both have been recognized as MCLA All-Americans.

Fong, who also earned UMLC Offensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-UMLC Team, finished the season leading the team in goals (27), assists (24), and points (51). He recorded five hat tricks this season, and had seven 4-plus point games. In 54 career games, Fong has 85 goals and 82 assists for 167 points, which ranks him at fourth in career goals, first in career assists, and second in career points among Minnesota’s all-time leaders.

In 2016, Damberg led the team in face-offs won (106) and ground balls (69). He finished the season winning 106 of 166 for a win percentage of .639. Damberg was also named to the All-UMLC team for the second consecutive year. With only two seasons under his belt, Damberg is currently Minnesota’s all-time leader in face-offs attempted (386) and face-offs won (270).
