Senior Spotlight: Alex Wohl

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.–Alex is a Marketing major hoping to start his career at an advertising agency. He attended Eastview High School where he was a two-year captain, and won a State Championship in 2012.

After missing his freshman season due to a torn ACL, Wohl proved himself as a valuable team player. In his sophomore campaign, he registered 3 goals, 1 assist, and 20 groundballs playing primarily as a defensive-midfielder. However his most notable performance that year was against Minn-Duluth. Wohl relieved Matt Jorgensen, who was struggling with the flu, midway through the second quarter. Wohl–who had never played goalie in lacrosse (but was a hockey goalie through high school)–had 7 saves to help the Gophers win the game in triple OT.

In his junior year, Wohl was named First Team All-UMLC as a defensive midfielder–collecting 20 groundballs with 1 goal and 1 assist. During his senior seaon, he transitioned to an offensive midfielder, playing on the second midfield unit. Throughout his Gopher career, Wohl has totalled 8 goals, 8 assists, 47 ground balls, and a .636 save percentage.
